Biography

Bill helps acquire and defend intellectual property assets. He prepares and prosecutes patent application for a wide variety of domestic and international clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. While practicing generally in the mechanical arts and developing skills related to medical device patents, Bill draws on his prior experience as a Chief Engineer. He is well versed in internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, steam systems, refrigeration systems, and electrical systems. Bill also has engineering and technical experience in technologies including medical devices and industrial vehicles. 

Bill has experience in a broad range of admiralty and maritime matters. He is a licensed Chief Engineer and Riverboat Captain with 25 years of experience in the maritime industry which gives him a full understanding of his maritime client’s needs including:   

Dealing with the FDA, USCG, Corps of Engineers, state board of health inspectors, OSHA, and EPA.  

Advising clients on USCG matters including licensing, medical aspects of licensing, re-obtaining credentials and vessel regulations compliance.

Negotiating blue and brown water shipping contracts and vessel loading agreements.

Litigation experience with allisions and collisions, and various marine incidents.

Relationships with maritime experts for litigation.

Sale of maritime vessels and maritime assets.

Obtaining Corps of Engineers permits.

In addition to his successful law practice, Bill continues as an engineer and captain for a riverboat company.
