Three Veteran Transportation Attorneys Join Frost Brown Todd’s Indianapolis Office

October 1, 2018 (Indianapolis, IN) – Michael J. Case, Eric Baker, and Stacey Katz, all prominent attorneys with strong ties to the transportation industry, have joined Frost Brown Todd’s (FBT) Indianapolis office as part of the firm’s Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics industry team. Each attorney has served long stints as in-house counsel to transportation companies and, as such, brings a strategic business perspective to his or her practice of law.

Importantly, the timing of their joint arrival to FBT is no coincidence. The move is instead part of a concerted effort to amplify the firm’s focus on the region’s transportation industry. With these attorneys on board, FBT has made a major step toward solidifying its position as the go-to law firm for transportation and logistics companies.

“Few attorneys know the transportation industry as well as Mike, Stacey, and Eric,” says Indianapolis Member-in-Charge Heather L. Wilson, “and at a time when changes at the policy level stand to significantly impact ground-level operations, they’re the kind of attorneys that transportation companies will want in their corner.”

Michael J. Case (Mike), a former chief operating officer and general counsel for a public holding company focused on serving the transportation industry, and its three P&C insurance subsidiaries, brings a wealth of experience and insight to FBT’s Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics industry team and Insurance Industry Team. He advises transportation and insurance companies on such matters as corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and licensing compliance, logistics services contracts, motor carrier services contracts, and independent contractor agreements. Mike also has experience assisting with the formation and authorization of alternative risk-bearing entities, including domestic and offshore captives, risk-retention and self-insured retention programs, and workers’ compensation programs.

Eric Baker joins FBT after nearly two decades serving as general counsel in the transportation industry, where he advised companies during the strategic planning process, managed legal matters, drafted and reviewed employment policies and documents, and negotiated commercial contracts. As a member of FBT’s Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics industry team, Eric focuses on mergers and acquisitions, transportation and logistics regulatory and licensing compliance, commercial contracts and transactions, and general corporate and corporate governance matters, including substantial experience guiding clients in matters involving independent contractor agreements and employment law matters, international licensing and authorized representative agreements. He also supports FBT’s clients in commercial litigation, personal injury and liability issues, as well as intellectual property and commercial real estate matters.

Stacey Katz, previously general counsel to a large transportation company, has experience advising on all aspects of intermodal transportation, including rail, real estate, corporate compliance and governance, employment, contract, and litigation matters. As a member of FBT’s Regulated Business practice and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics industry team, Stacy assists clients with negotiating, drafting, and interpreting all manner of commercial agreements, while also handling a wide variety of regulatory, corporate, employment, contract, and litigation matters.
