Biography

Rita serves as a Staff Attorney in the firm’s Lexington office focusing her practice on worker’s compensation, labor and employment, and general litigation matters. Rita assists employers and their carriers in avoiding litigation by negotiating favorable settlements and by providing training and counseling on a variety of workplace issues.

Prior to joining the FBT, she served as an Administrative Law Judge at the North Carolina Industrial Commission before transitioning to private practice where she successfully defended numerous employers and insurance carriers in the area of worker’s compensation. She has also prosecuted criminal misdemeanors and felonies as an Assistant District Attorney in North Carolina and served as a Legislative Research Attorney for members of the North Carolina General Assembly during law school.
