Rita serves as a Staff Attorney in the firmโs Lexington office focusing her practice on labor and employment, business litigation matters, and workersโ compensation issues in Kentucky. Rita combines the experience of an Administrative Law Judge and private practice to assist employers in avoiding and defending labor and employment law claims. Rita concentrates her practice on responding to EEOC charges, wrongful discharge litigation, employment discrimination, and actions brought under the Kentucky Civil Rights Act. Rita regularly guides employers and their carriers in avoiding litigation by negotiating favorable settlements and by providing training and counseling on a variety of workplace issues.
Prior to joining the FBT, she served as an Administrative Law Judge at the North Carolina Industrial Commission before transitioning to private practice where she successfully defended numerous employers and insurance carriers in the area of workerโs compensation. She has also prosecuted criminal misdemeanors and felonies as an Assistant District Attorney in North Carolina and served as a Legislative Research Attorney for members of the North Carolina General Assembly.
