Nitya helps her clients minimize the risk and maximize the value of their businesses as she guides them through the legal issues involved in eminent domain litigation and a broad range of commercial transactions and real estate matters. Whether she’s working through eminent domain disputes or negotiating and drafting commercial or real estate transactions, Nitya provides pragmatic recommendations that allow her clients – which include multinational oil & gas companies, U.S. utility and transportation suppliers, and North American entertainment businesses – to quickly and efficiently process information and to make well-informed, strategic decisions.
Before joining the firm, Nitya was a Civil Rights Fellow for the Legal Division of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, where she helped the State process, mediate and prosecute a broad range of employment and housing discrimination matters. Prior to that, in law school, Nitya, as a clinical student, represented detainees in administrative hearings, participated in SB1038 mediations, pitched policy proposals to local law enforcement and congressional members and assisted in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and District of Columbia.
Nitya is active in pro bono activities, particularly asylum-related immigration work. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new cultures and cuisines, frequenting concerts, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
