  • Leading Real Estate Attorney Michael Capaldi Joins Frost Brown Todd AlvaradoSmith in Orange County

Michael D. Capaldi has joined Frost Brown Todd AlvaradoSmith’s (FBT AS) Orange County office as a Partner in its Real Estate practice.

“We are honored and proud that Michael and his partner, Madison Spach, have moved their practices to Frost Brown Todd,” said Orange County Partner-in-Charge Ruben Smith. “Expertise is everything. Our goal is to accelerate Frost Brown Todd’s California practice by bringing in the most talented lawyers with deep roots in the community.”

Mr. Capaldi specializes in complex, high-stakes real estate transactions. In his practice of more than 20 years, he has guided financial organizations and institutional and entrepreneurial developers through complex property acquisitions and financings, the highly sensitive planning and entitlement stage of real property development, and challenging workouts and restructurings.

“Southern California is among the most vibrant and dynamic commercial markets in the world. Now, our clients will have access to Frost Brown Todd’s national full-service network of impressive, market-leading attorneys,” Capaldi said. “Building on its merger this year with AlvaradoSmith, Frost Brown Todd brings its nationwide reputation and institutional reach to Los Angeles and Orange County.”

“Of unique value to Michael’s clients is his work as an entrepreneur and the founder of a real estate development company,” said Smith. “This adds to his deep legal expertise and strong, practical business sense unique among even the most experienced legal counsel. Michael’s clients include major homebuilders, office portfolio owners, land development companies, and some of the largest commercial and institutional property owners and operators in southern California.

Capaldi follows his partner, Madison Spach, who recently joined Frost Brown Todd AlvaradoSmith. Spach brings more than 30 years of litigation experience in a variety of industries, including real estate and construction.

“Since the merger of AlvaradoSmith with Frost Brown Todd, our goal has been to strengthen our California practice – but always with the right people,” Smith said. “Madison, Michael, and their clients are perfect for this firm.”

The FBT AlvaradoSmith merger resulted in a firm with more than 575 attorneys in 16 offices in eight states and Washington, D.C. The firm’s lawyers represent multinational and regional companies in energy, real estate, health care, financial services, manufacturing, technology, and private equity. Gaining a strong beachhead in California is a milestone in FBT’s strategic growth.
