Practice focuses on affordable housing and hemp business law

Frost Brown Todd (FBT) continues to grow its Houston office with the addition of Member Andrea Steel. She will join the firm’s Real Estate practice group. Steel represents both for-and non-profit developers and assists public housing authorities with tax credits and financing.

In addition to her real estate work, Steel has extensive experience in the unique needs of the hemp and cannabis industry. She represents a range of cannabis companies, including cultivators, retailers, distributors, and testing labs. Steel advises on regulatory compliance, licensing, transactions, and policy.  Steel is the co-chair of the Legislative Advisement Committee of the International Cannabis Bar Association and has been appointed vice chair of the American Bar Associations Cannabis Law and Policy Committee for the upcoming 2021-22 bar year.

“Andrea has built an incredible practice and is regularly sought after for her thought leadership in both the affordable housing and hemp industries,” said Houston Member-in-Charge Zenobia Harris Bivens. “We are excited to have Andrea join our nationally-recognized hemp and real estate practices because her depth of knowledge and expertise is impressive, and she will add significant value to our clients in Texas and nationally.”

Steel is a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and holds a degree in criminal justice and sociology from the University of Maryland. She is licensed to practice in Texas and Oklahoma.
