Nashville Blockchain Meetup: Blockchain as an enabler of the Internet of Things

January 06, 2017

The next Nashville Blockchain Meetup will be held on Jan 6, 2017 at Industrious in the Gulch.  The topic for this meetup will be the intersection of Blockchain & The Internet of Things.

The rise of blockchain and distributed ledger technology is driving renewed enthusiasm among Internet of Things stakeholders.  The distributed nature of the blockchain is an excellent enabler of IoT applications and the smart contracts that make these smart devices meaningful.  While the technology is still in its early stages, I think we are going to see some interesting use cases arise over the next few years.  Using the blockchain, IoT entrepreneurs can build secure, smart-device-based economies with blockchain-registered devices that can process transactions, sign attestations, execute contracts and even transfer funds.

Friday’s panel will include David Sulpy (Founder, CEO of Initial State), David Bailey (CEO of BTC Media), Rachael Babcock (Healthcare IoT expert) & John Wagster (IT Attorney, Frost Brown Todd).
