Katelyn is an Associate in the Data, Digital Assets & Technology Practice Group. Katelyn’s practice focuses on aiding companies in the digital asset, fintech, and payments spaces.
She has substantial experience in drafting technology-related commercial agreements, including software development, licensing, and subscription agreements, service-based software solution agreements (i.e., SaaS agreements), service level agreements, and agreements for digital token and cryptocurrency companies.
Katelyn also provides counsel on financial regulations, particularly with respect to assisting clients who may be impacted by the Bank Secrecy Act. Working with a variety of clients who operate in the FinTech industry, Katelyn has varied experience in working with payment processing relationships, drafting consumer-facing documents and agreements with an eye toward the regulatory landscape of consumer regulation, helping navigate licensing requirements on the state and federal levels for entities such as money service businesses and lenders, and providing counsel on compliance with state laws (i.e., abandoned property laws, compliance with state surcharging laws, etc.).
Katelyn also has a breadth of experience in general corporate matters relating to state compliance and in assisting with significant business events such as divestitures, mergers and acquisitions.
Katelyn graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During her time in law school, she helped low-income children and families facing complex medical needs address the social determinants of the clients’ health by advocating for clients to obtain and retain benefits such as Supplemental Security Income as a part of the Carolina Health Advocacy Medicolegal Partnership Clinic. Additionally, while in law school Katelyn served as an Executive Articles Editor of the South Carolina Law Review. Katelyn was also a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal honor society.
Before her legal career, Katelyn attended Baylor University where she received her master’s in public health. While completing graduate school, Katelyn was a Graduate Assistant at the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District and Intern at Waco Medical-Legal Partnership.
