Elise focuses her practice in product, tort, and insurance litigation. She spent the early years of her practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of matters, allowing her to bring a unique and well-rounded perspective to her practice.
Elise has significant experience guiding clients through litigation involving allegations of insurance bad faith and on insurance coverage disputes in various jurisdictions. She also has experience representing clients against allegations related to product defects personal injuries, including but not limited to cases involving trucking and transportation accidents, and Freedom of Information Act litigation. She represents clients in all phases of litigation and seeks to obtain effective and efficient resolutions while understanding the concerns and values of her clients. Her unique perspective brings together creative problem solving and hard work to provide her clients with solutions specifically tailored to their needs.
Elise takes her individual responsibility to improve the communities within her sphere of influence very seriously. Whether it is improving the diversity and inclusion of the legal profession through her work in the firm’s Women’s Initiative, her role in the West Virginia Women Attorneys or by aiding those in need through community and individual outreach, Elise gives of her time and resources in her journey to positively impact the world around her.
Successful resolution of eight-figure West Virginia insurance bad faith claim arising out of a residential fire.
Successful resolution of West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania coverage and bad faith claims in advance of litigation and/or before significant resources are expended on resolution and to minimize risks to client.
Successful dismissal of claims against City in Pennsylvania for allegations of negligence related to demolition of residential building.
Represented clients in litigation involving allegations of personal injuries, including claims related to product defect allegations and trucking and transportation accidents.
Successfully secured new law in West Virginia that protects peer review comments and drafts of academic papers from disclosure under the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
