The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) ratings list Frost Brown Todd (FBT) as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” for the eighth consecutive year. FBT has earned a perfect 100 percent rating each year and is one of only 840 major U.S. businesses to do so. Among the legal community, only 141 AmLaw 200 firms received a perfect score.
“Frost Brown Todd’s dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion continues to grow and evolve. The HRC standards provide us guidance in our quest to be as inclusive and equitable as possible,” said FBT Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee Kimera Hall. “The HRC is in a class of its own having conducted the CEI for 20 years. They understand how the needs of employees and clients have changed over the years. We consider ourselves fortunate to earn eight consecutive perfect rankings.”
The CEI is an international benchmarking survey and report that reviews corporate policies and practices related to workplace equality. The HRC evaluates all types of entities, from the largest law firms and publicly traded businesses to smaller and privately held companies. FBT met the four pillars of the CEI’s rating criteria, including non-discrimination policies across business entities; equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families; supporting an inclusive culture; and corporate social responsibility.
“When the Human Rights Campaign Foundation created the Corporate Equality Index 20 years ago, we dreamed that LGBTQ+ workers—from the factory floor to corporate headquarters, in big cities and small towns—could have access to the policies and benefits needed to thrive and live life authentically,” said Jay Brown, senior vice president of programs, research and training at HRC. “We are proud that the Corporate Equality Index paved the way to that reality for countless LGBTQ+ workers in America and abroad. But there is still more to do, which is why we are raising the bar yet again to create more equitable workplaces and a better tomorrow for LGBTQ+ workers everywhere.”
HRC considers FBT an advocate for equality within FBT and with respect to its clients and the community around it. HRC notes that what sets companies like FBT apart is not only speaking about inclusion and non-discrimination policies, but also applying them to their work daily.
