  • Business and Industry Executive Bob Welty Joins Frost Brown Todd in Charleston Office

Frost Brown Todd (FBT) announced today that Bob Welty has joined the firm as a Managing Director in its Charleston office. Working closely with the firm’s Finance Industry Team, Welty will serve as a source of deep experience and advice to a broad network of business contacts spanning West Virginia and Columbus, Ohio. This includes regional and local bank holding companies and other financial institutions.

Prior to joining FBT, Welty served as West Virginia Market President of Fifth Third Bank, where he coordinated business development and leadership for its retail, commercial and healthcare, and wealth management divisions. During his tenure at Fifth Third, Welty participated on an industry team involved in a large healthcare merger, sourced a $50 million loan relationship for a healthcare client, and cultivated significant personal investment relationships, including a $55M investment.

Appointed by then-Governor Joe Manchin, Welty served from 2010 to 2021 on the Board of Directors for the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust (WVJIT), a public venture capital fund created by the West Virginia Legislature to stimulate entrepreneurial growth and create jobs. As Vice-Chairman of the WVJIT, he was a significant contributor to creating the administrative framework for the West Virginia Capital Access Program, which helps credit-worthy companies with non-traditional profiles secure seed capital and debt financing. Bob also serves on the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Roundtable.

“Bob is well known to our teams and our clients across West Virginia and throughout the region,” said Carte P. Goodwin, Charleston Office Partner-in-Charge. “His unique skillset and background will no doubt help us create exciting opportunities for our clients and the firm.”

“With more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, Bob delivers strategic initiatives and innovative solutions that propel organizations to achieve sustainable growth,” said Geoffrey M. White, FBT’s Finance Industry Team Leader. “He is a trusted advisor, servant leader, and mentor to community partners. His extensive industry experience and knowledge of the market broadens the services our Finance Industry Team can offer clients navigating an environment that remains very much in-flux.”

“I am extremely pleased to join Frost Brown Todd in this new role and to work with clients to create opportunities that impact communities across West Virginia and Ohio,” said Welty.
