Derek focuses his practice at FBT on Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation matters. He assists companies of all sizes with IP and commercial disputes involving complex technology in pre-suit matters, in court, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, before the International Trade Commission, and in alternative dispute resolution forums through all stages of litigation.
Using his background in computer science and software, Derek translates complex technology into intuitive concepts for judges and juries. Derek previously worked as a Judicial Extern for Judge Michael R. Barrett of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. This experience provided him with a unique perspective on U.S. District Court litigation.
