Firm “Highly Commended” in FT Innovative Lawyers North America 2024 Awards
Frost Brown Todd (FBT) was named a “highly commended” finalist for the Financial Times’ (FT) Innovative Lawyers North America 2024 awards in the “Innovation in Digitizing Legal Practice” category. The firm was ranked “highly commended,” and honored at an awards ceremony in New York on December 9. A total of 317 nominations were submitted for this year’s awards. FBT was also ranked for the first time in FT’s Most Innovative Firms Index, coming in 31st.
The FBT team was recognized for using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to streamline the review of more than 150 expert witness deposition and trial transcripts to create a user-friendly, client-facing database of key findings and analysis.
Members of the firm’s Product, Tort, and Insurance Litigation practice, including Nicholas Pappas, Allison Weyand, Riley Grant and Jacob Bischoff, closely collaborated with the client and FBT’s Data and Innovation team to establish a systematic workflow with custom AI prompts to ensure accuracy and efficiency in document review.
Key Features of the Recognized Innovation:
- Custom Workflow Development: Senior Legal Project Manager, Masako Hashimoto, and Senior Knowledge and Research Services Manager, Kayla Kotila, developed a three-step workflow model to enhance Thomson Reuters CoCounsel’s GenAI capabilities, ensuring accurate and efficient information retrieval.
- Expert Witness Index: The team created a user-friendly database to catalog key findings and streamline cross-referencing and auditing of information across large data sets.
