Liam focuses his practice on product liability defense; transportation and trucking litigation; tort and insurance (including bad faith); fire and explosion litigation; premises liability; personal injury; business litigation; and drug and medical device. Liam is a trial lawyer with experience at all stages of litigation in both state and federal court, including pre-suit dispute resolution, arbitration, pretrial discovery, trial, and appeal. Liam is licensed in California, Kentucky, and Indiana, and has been recognized every year from 2018 through 2023 as a “Rising Star” by Kentucky Super Lawyers.
Liam handles a variety of complex negligence and product liability matters including automobiles (warranty and personal injury cases), trucks (vehicle collision and personal injury), motorcycles, mining equipment, agricultural equipment (specializing in fire and explosion), and natural gas explosion. Liam also has a depth of experience with premises liability (including amusement parks, gas stations, restaurants, and other premises), and business litigation (including breach of contract, commercial landlord/tenant, construction, and franchisor/franchisee disputes).
In addition, Liam has extensive experience with insurance defense, including underlying UM/UIM and property damages, with related coverage disputes and litigation. Liam also has deep knowledge and experience with first-party and third-party bad faith and unfair claims settlement practices litigation, defending well over 100 cases for various major insurance carriers. Liam has been directly involved with ensuring that bad faith claims were simply dismissed upon resolution of the underlying claim(s). Or, when bad faith cases have proceeded into further litigation, Liam has obtained very favorable results, including summary judgment in favor of the carrier on many occasions.
Liam graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law. Before attending law school, Liam was a tenured Associate Professor of Medieval English Literature at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, IN.
Served as lead trial counsel and won defense verdicts in property damage, personal injury, premises liability, UM/UIM, and discrimination/wrongful termination cases in Kentucky state court and in federal court in the Western District of Kentucky.
Defense of transportation and trucking clients in motor vehicle accident and personal injury cases.
Defense of insurance companies against personal injury, UIM/UM, and first- and third-party bad faith claims.
Serves as part of a national counsel fire and explosion defense team for a major construction and agricultural equipment manufacturer.
Defense of medical device manufacturer in litigation stemming from the placement of mesh for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
