Kathryn focuses her practice on energy and public utilities law with an emphasis on regulatory and permitting compliance. She has handled matters before the Kentucky Public Service Commission, the Kentucky State Board on Electric Generation and Transmission Siting, and the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet. She has advised renewable energy clients on project siting, successfully assisting these clients in obtaining the necessary approvals to construct and operate within Kentucky.
Kathryn has also represented jurisdictional utilities and other companies, including gas, telecom, water, and wastewater clients, before the Kentucky Public Service Commission in matters including acquisitions, construction certificate applications, investigations, and rate cases. Drawing on her extensive background in general litigation, Kathryn helps clients resolve complex legal issues and achieve favorable results in both state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels.
When Kathryn began her career, she focused primarily on the defense of hospitals and healthcare providers in medical negligence claims as well as general insurance defense, governmental liability defense, professional liability defense, premises liability, equine law, employment law, and nursing home defense. This strong background in both regulatory law and litigation enables her to craft effective solutions for clients operating in the energy sector and other highly regulated industries.
