Biography

Ben practices in the firm’s Louisville office, and is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group, Finance Industry Team and Multifamily Housing Industry Subteams. Ben represents borrowers, developers, owners, investors, and lenders in financing, servicing, purchasing, selling and developing commercial real estate.

Ben has represented life insurance companies in closing hundreds of millions of dollars of mortgage loans throughout the United States. He has also represented publicly traded REITs, private equity funds, national and regional real estate investors and developers in closing hundreds of millions of dollars of acquisitions, dispositions and loans throughout the United States, including loans for purposes of new construction and/or redevelopment, and the purchase or refinance of multifamily housing, student housing, offices, retail shopping centers, standalone retail assets, medical offices and industrial properties.

He routinely represents multiple stakeholders in “sale-leaseback” transactions primary concentrated in pad site or outparcel retail settings across the country, including, but not limited to, managing teams of three to ten FBT colleagues in reviewing due diligence (title, survey and zoning) for larger portfolio transactions.

Ben has also represented borrowers, life insurance companies and alternative capital sources in connection with various servicing related matters for distressed and performing assets.

Ben received his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 2018. While in law school, Ben served on the University of Louisville Law Review’s Executive Board, and his research on proposed federal drone regulations was selected for publication in 2017. Before law school, Ben earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Louisville, concentrating his studies in public policy, economics, and history. He also participated in the University’s Honors Program.
