Biography

Alex is a corporate attorney, specializing in finance and lending law specifically secured and unsecured credit transactions for national, regional and community banks as well as strategic investors and debt funds.  He regularly counsels clients in connection with commercial and industrial financing, asset-based lending, and commercial real estate and construction finance. Alex’s practice also includes working with local authorities and businesses with respect to tax and other incentives related to development and expansion within the Commonwealth of Kentucky and other jurisdictions.

Over the course of his career, Alex has been honored for his legal accomplishments, including recognition in the Kentucky Super Lawyers Magazine and Best Lawyers® for Corporate and Real Estate Law.

Real Estate and Construction Finance – Distillery and Rickhouses
Represented bank client in connection with financing of a $100MM+ contract distillery operation and related rickhouses located on a 176-acre campus in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Real Estate and Construction Finance – Multi-Purpose Commercial Space
Represented bank client in connection with financing of a $100MM+ multi-purpose development located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The project included the construction of an underground parking garage, office building, residential suites and commercial space.

Real Estate and Construction Finance – Multi-Purpose Commercial Space
Represented bank client in connection with financing of a $119MM multi-purpose development located in Kansas City, Missouri.  The project included coordination with local authorities related to a tax advantaged bond structure.

Real Estate and Construction Finance – Student Housing
Represented bank client in connection with the development and construction of a series of Class A student housing projects for a national developer in Bloomington, IN, Boise, ID and Madison, WI.

Commercial Real Estate Finance
Represented bank client in connection with a series of real estate acquisitions across the country by a national commercial real estate fund, followed by subsequent debt and corporate restructuring.

Structured Finance and Real Estate Lending
Represented bank client in the documentation and negotiation of multiple credit facilities totaling $17MM used by the borrower group to finance bourbon inventory and receivables, and the development and construction of a bourbon distillery, visitor center and related rickhouses in Boyle County, Kentucky.

Asset-Based Lending
Represented bank client in the documentation and negotiation of a $17.5MM asset based credit facility, used by Borrower to finance bourbon inventory and receivables in connection with its operations in North Carolina.

Asset-Based Lending
Represented bank client in the documentation and negotiation of a $50MM asset based credit facility, used by Borrower to finance bourbon inventory and receivables in connection with its operations in Lexington, Kentucky.

Commercial & Industrial Lending
Represented bank client in connection with a corporate restructure and ESOP acquisition, totaling $21MM in outstanding debt.

Commercial & Industrial Lending
Represented bank client in connection with a debt package totaling $40MM used by the Borrower group to simultaneously acquire personal and real estate assets of a manufacturing business with locations in Kentucky and Alabama.

Floor Plan and Real Estate Finance – Automobile Dealerships
Represented bank client in the documentation and negotiation of a $70 million floor plan credit and related real estate facilities used to finance the borrowing group’s automobile dealerships located in Pennsylvania.

Syndication
Represented administrative agent and lead bank in the documentation and negotiation of syndicated credit facilities totaling $57 million used by the borrowing group for overall corporate restructure, the acquisition and improvement of two river cruise ships to add to their existing fleet, the refinance of outstanding debt and for general working capital purposes.
