Frost Brown Todd (FBT) took home the award for “Innovations In Knowledge Management” at the 2025 Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards. These awards recognize corporate legal departments, law firms, and legal technology providers that have made significant contributions to legal innovation in the prior year. FBT was recognized for the firm’s Amazing Race program—a week-long, firmwide data collection initiative involving the collaboration of more than 1,000 attorneys and business professionals. Award winners were unveiled on March 24 as part of Legalweek 2025 in New York, where thousands of legal professionals gathered for a conference to explore industry trends and new technologies.
“When Frost Brown Todd set out to establish the firm’s first experience management database, the Data & Innovation team created an innovative change management approach to onboard new users and collect valuable data to help us serve our clients better,” said FBT Chairman Robert Sartin. “The initiative amplified data use and cultivated an inclusive culture whereby all lawyers and professionals understand they play important roles in contributing to better data.”
More than 85% of the partners at the firm entered content in the experience management system during the Amazing Race, profiling nearly 1,500 legal matters in total over a two-week period. Other attorneys and business professionals also participated, racing virtually to destinations representing work for clients across the globe. To date, the firm has collected over 5,000 experience descriptions, plus additional data, in its knowledge management database and client relationship management tool.
By investing in data and innovation, FBT ensures efficiency in its processes and provides greater value to clients. Taking this data-driven approach, the firm is focused on harnessing legal technology, analytics, and data to gain a better understanding of its clients’ businesses, make informed strategic decisions, and create effective business and legal solutions.
