Barbara Bennett, a partner at Frost Brown Todd (FBT), has earned the Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
The AIGP is a global credential certifying that the holder can ensure safety and trust in the development and deployment of ethical artificial intelligence (AI) and ongoing management of AI systems. The certification was introduced earlier this year in recognition of the growing need for organizations to have employees and outside consultants with the requisite knowledge and experience to guide them in their AI integrations. Bennett is part of a select group of people globally to have undergone the examination process and successfully earned the AIGP credential.
From the very beginning, Bennett, a nationally recognized health care attorney, has been at the forefront of the intersection between internet technology and health care, including artificial intelligence. Bennett is noted for her mergers and acquisitions, data privacy and governance, and strategic business advice. She has led transactions and provided counsel for sophisticated and complex health care and health care service businesses that have included numerous multinational Fortune 50 companies.
“I’ve been fortunate to help lead a team at Frost Brown Todd that is serving on the front lines of this revolution in AI—able to advise and assist as clients look to leverage the benefits of machine learning and generative AI without unnecessarily exposing their companies to real and emerging risks,” said Bennett. “We want our clients to be successful with their AI integrations. At the same time, we want them to be aware of AI’s evolving legal and ethical boundaries. That’s where an ounce of proper AI governance today is worth a pound of cure going forward. And, as a full-service AI legal team, we can provide industry-focused support to help companies comply, and document that compliance, as they innovate in the AI space.”
A sought-after critical thinker and trusted strategic legal advisor, Bennett has counseled clients that include health plans, hospital systems, behavioral health businesses, labs, pharmaceutical and device manufacturers, and companies providing IT, revenue cycle, turn-key management, and data analytics services to the health care industry. She has been a successful senior partner in a top-ten global law firm and has more than a decade of in-house legal and business experience as general counsel.
Bennett is part of FBT’s Nashville team of attorneys, which has a wide range of knowledge and skills and is led by Partner-in-Charge Mekesha Montgomery. The group has extensive industry experience representing clients in the automotive, manufacturing, blockchain and digital currency, health care innovation, government relations, technology, and international sectors.
