Frost Brown Todd (FBT) Cincinnati has hired senior associate attorney Eric Volz. Volz joins approximately 50 professionals in the Intellectual Property Law and Litigation practice group, which received recognition earlier this year as one of the world’s top trademark groups in World Trademark Review 1000, and one of the top intellectual property practices in Ohio by Chambers USA®, 2015. Like many of FBT’s intellectual property lawyers, Volz has a technical degree and background, which he leverages to assist clients across industries. He has been counseling clients since 2011, particularly in support of patent related matters. Prior to practicing law, Volz worked in industry as a mechanical development engineer, specializing in diesel engine lube and cooling systems. Volz graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and received his JD from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
FBT’s IP attorneys focus on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, interactive media, advertising, and first amendment and media. They counsel and represent clients in prosecution, litigation and portfolio management, assist with anti-counterfeiting measures in the U.S. and abroad, and work on cases involving ongoing enforcement efforts for world-famous brands. Although FBT is a general practice corporate law firm, it has practiced in the IP arena for more than 35 years. The IP team is spread out over the firm’s 11 offices throughout a seven-state region, and is chaired by Ann Schoen in Cincinnati.
