Joe represents institutional lenders in complex real estate transactions. Joe has represented lenders in closing CMBS, construction, mezzanine and variable rate (interest cap protected) loans. These loans have been originated for acquiring or refinancing hotel, office, shopping center, senior housing and self-storage properties. In the representation of lenders, Joe has also focused on loans secured solely or partially by leasehold collateral (ground leases), interests in fractured condominium regimes and other non-traditional real property collateral.
Joe received his juris doctorate from Elon University School of Law in 2013 and his bachelor’s degree from Flagler College in 2009.
Representing a CMBS lender in the $18 million mortgage and mezzanine financing of a Baltimore, MD hotel in which the collateral included a fractured commercial condominium unit lying, in part, on three leasehold parcels demised in the late 1800’s.
Representing a construction lender in the financing of two pre-start construction loans located on leasehold parcels in Tempe, AZ totaling $22 million.
Coordinating the financing of the leasehold and commercial condominium interests in connection with the origination of a $30 million CMBS portfolio loan secured by collateral tenanted by large national retailers.
